If the player possesses the Deluxe Edition of Far Cry 3, after the initial tutorial mission where Grant and Jason attempt to escape from Vaas' camp, Jason will suddenly have a full tribal sleeve tattoo on his right arm. This doesn't appear to be part of the Tatau, and is purely cosmetic. Far Cry New Dawn is here and it's time to explore the pink-tinged wasteland of the post-apocalypse in all its glory. A smattering of nuclear bombs dropping actually made the place look better.

Whichever Far Cry 3 tattoo you decide to get inked on you, the most popular spot for these tattoos more than often starts on the arm. Like the Nameless One, this annoying backpacker bro who turns into a somewhat less annoying killing machine also has the mysterious gift of converting tattoos into powers. What starts off as a meek little tribal armband grows throughout the game as Jason picks up lethal abilities, eventually becoming a half-sleeve tattoo, known as the 'tatau' by the Rakyat people of Far Cry 3's island. The Aztec-looking tat is made up of varying images of herons, sharks and spiders, each of which symbolises a set of abilities that slowly turn Jason into a tribal warrior. But the more murderous abilities Jason gains through the tatau the more he loses his grip on reality. Sure, it represents Jason's growth into a man, but also his descent into a killer. For Jason to earn final piece of the tatau, he pretty much needs to go through a psychedelic orgy of drugs, sex and murder, which is way more than any of us bargain for when getting inked up.
3. Jin Kazama - Tekken
It may look a bit '90s' by today's tattoo standards, but Jin's tribal tat on his left bicep is not just there to draw attention to his bulging guns. Despite its formulaic appearance, Jin's tattoo isn't your typical 'ink-under-the-skin' jobbie, but more of a demonic birthmark. Jin got the mark from the devilish form of his nemesis Kazuya, who you can witness branding Jin with it in Tekken 3's opening cinematic. The tattoo is related to the Devil Gene, which Jin has the misfortune of bearing, and which makes him prone to turning into a demonic being from time to time (on the bright side, this does mean he gets to fly and shoot lasers out of his eyes). Whether the brand is to serve as a permanent reminder of Jin's dark alter-ego or whether it's what created the alter-ego in the first place is unclear. What is certain, however, is that it's definitely more significant than the tribal bicep tat worn by your average juiced-up gym monkey.
